This poem is inspired by the Moody Blues 60’s hit Go Now. A passionate Lover’s Plea at the break-up of their romance.
I heard the song from long ago on the radio
And knew the heartache it described
As the singer’s voice soared and wailed
Something inside me cried.
His song had touched me then and touches me now
When he sang from the depths of his desperation
I felt his pain call down the years describing his situation
Oh, haven’t we all been there, smiles pinned on while heartache burns
Turning away to wipe the tears of sadness from our eyes
While the singer sings, the music plays, and the once beloved yearns
To hold the lover once again
To clutch once more the dearest heart
To whisper words of love and pain
To hope this can be not Goodbye,
But please let’s try again, a new start.
